Half Day Care

• The programme was launched on the 01/08/2008 after Social Development initiated the programme.

• The aim of this programme is to ensure that Orphans and Vulnerable Children have access to health care and to provide psychological support to children.

• The programme activities include:

• This is a facility that provides 24-hour palliative care, usually these units have limited number of beds and have specific criteria for admission.

• A patient who has pain that is difficult to control at home, or a patient whose need respite, or a patient who has absolutely no support systems at home.

• An In-patient unit is for patients who require short-term intensive medical care, pain and symptom control or terminal care. Patients are also admitted when the family needs a break. Many patients return to their homes once pain and other symptoms are under control.
